Welcome to Gerhart Engineering Co.

Born and raised in Mount Pleasant, PA, Mr. Gerhart, the owner learned about the basic principles of engineering working with his father on the family farm.  After graduating from Mount Pleasant Area H.S. in 1976, he attended Lafayette College, Easton, PA, where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1980.  He went to work as an engineer, gaining office and field experience in the heavy construction industry,  He passed the Engineer-in-Training exam in 1984 and the professional engineers exam in 1987.  He began his own company in 1990.

Sewage improvement plans: We can evaluate your existing system and create innovative, comprehensive plans to solve the problem.  Our staff does a thorough site survey, drafts detailed plans and computes accurate cost estimates.  Our digitized plans depict pipeline locations, typical cross-sections, pipeline profiles and connection details with remarkable skill and accuracy.  A typical municipal project would cost in the  range of $8000-$12000.

Structural Analysis and plans: We can take your idea for a structural improvement, i.e., a sign, building, bridge, retaining wall or dam, and apply our engineering expertise and leadership skills to see your project is completed safely, efficiently and economically.  A typical rural municipal bridge would cost in the range of 5%-10% of the construction cost.

Surveying, digital drafting and plans: Our construction survey crew can install a network of working points fast and cost effectively with our GPS equipment.  The scope of work includes earthwork, pipeline, railway, roadways, building plans, well location or topo maps.  A least squares method of analysis, which ensures the best possible accuracy for the pointset in SOP.  A three man survey crew costs approximately $90/hour which includes all labor, equipment  and supplies.

Stormwater runoff management plans: We can input and output data for your watershed quickly and efficiently with the TR-55 computer program.  From that data, we can correctly size the pond, storage chamber, reservoirs, diversion ditches, swales, dikes, channels, dams, sediment traps or levees that best serves your project.  All solutions meet DEP regulations and cost in the range of $500-$1200.

Flexible Pavement Analysis: Furnish equipment, labor and supplies required to test and evaluate the compressive strength and load resistance of existing flexible pavement and write a final report.  The cost per mile to determine the maximum weight limit for flexible pavement is from $500-$1000.
